When you connect a Telematics provider to Fleetio, you have the option to automatically import your Vehicles from your provider to Fleetio.
NOTE: Importing Vehicles from a Telematics provider will add ALL Vehicles from the Telematics provider account to Fleetio. It's important to ensure the Vehicles in your Telematics account are up to date before importing to avoid adding incorrect or outdated vehicles.
Vehicle import is available for all native Telematics integrations. If you're connecting a Telematics provider to Fleetio for the first time, you should start with the integration guide for your provider linked below. You can return here when you've reached the step to Sync your Vehicles with Fleetio.

The instructions below show the process for Importing Vehicles from Geotab, but Vehicle import is available for all Native Telematics Integrations listed above.
After entering the required information when importing your Telematics Provider, you'll be prompted to Sync [Provider] Vehicles with Fleetio.
To import your Vehicles, select Yes, sync vehicles and devices in Fleetio, and then click Connect [Provider] to Fleetio.
- If you don't want to import your Vehicle data, or if you've already added your Vehicles to Fleetio, select No, only add the devices to Fleetio. Click Connect [Provider] to Fleetio to connect your Telematics devices.
- If you haven't added any Vehicles to your Fleetio account, you will need to add them manually. See Add Multiple Vehicles for more information.
- You can also sync your Vehicles later from the Telematics Devices index. See Import Telematics Vehicles using Bulk Actions below for more information.
If you choose to sync your Vehicles, Fleetio will begin the import process. This may take a few minutes.

When syncing is complete, you'll be shown a summary of the Vehicles that have been synced.
Click the Explore My Vehicles button to view the Fleetio Vehicle index, where your newly imported vehicles will be listed.
Vehicles assigned to telematics devices can be found by clicking Telematics Devices in the Sidebar Navigation.
This will bring you to the Telematics Devices index, showing your telematics devices and the Vehicles assigned to them.

Import Telematics Vehicles using Bulk Actions
If you opt not to import your vehicles during the initial setup, or if additional devices are added later, they can be imported from the Telematics Devices index using bulk actions.
- Click Vehicles and select Telematics Devices in the Sidebar Navigation.
- Select the checkboxes (a) for your Unassigned devices.
- Click the Actions drop-down menu (b) and select Import Vehicles.
NOTE: When importing Vehicles, the Telematics Device Name (c) will be used as the Vehicle Name in Fleetio. If the Vehicle Name already exists in Fleetio, you will encounter an error. To resolve this, change the device name in your telematics provider's system.
- Select a Group for your new Vehicles and click Confirm.
- Assigning a Group may be required depending on your Fleetio settings.
Fleetio will create a new vehicle based on the Telematics information and VIN and assign the vehicles to the telematics devices. This may take a few minutes.
Click on the vehicle name under the Assigned Vehicle column to view the Vehicle details page.
