IMPORTANT: Customers who were previously using Verizon Networkfleet have been moved to Verizon Connect Reveal.
With the Fleetio and Verizon Connect Reveal (Fleetmatics) integration, Fleetio will automatically import Meter Readings and current Vehicle Location.
Verizon Connect Reveal is a native integration and includes the following features:
| Vehicle | Powered Asset | Unpowered Asset | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary Meter | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Secondary Meter | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Vehicle Location | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Faults | ✓ | ||
| Auto-Mapping | ✓ | ✓ |
IMPORTANT: Verizon Connect Reveal is only available to customers in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Meter Value Calculation
Verizon Connect Reveal GPS units calculate mileage based on the distance traveled between very close data points, and calculation is performed no less than once per second.
Studies conducted by Verizon Connect Reveal have shown GPS meter readings to be consistent with the vehicle odometer, but can have a small variance within 2.7%.
Data Transfer / Update Frequency
Historical Data
Upon initial configuration, Fleetio does not pull any historical data from the integration. New data is imported moving forward.
Data Update Frequency
Meter Entries are imported nightly at midnight based on your account's time zone. These can be manually refreshed at any time.
Vehicle Location updates are imported on a nightly basis and may be manually refreshed at any time. A new Location Entry is only recorded if it has been more than 15 minutes since the previous one.
TIP: Multiple Meter Entries with the same Date and Meter Reading may simply indicate that Fleetio has pulled the most current data available from the device. Learn more in the GPS Integrations - Advanced Meter Topics article.
Meter Units Supported
The Fleetio integration with Verizon Connect Reveal supports primary and secondary meter units in miles, kilometers, and hours. Simply set the meter units appropriately on the Fleetio Vehicle, and the correct value will be imported.
Verizon Connect Reveal Setup
- Follow the Self-Service directions on this page to add a partner integration. When prompted to select a partner, choose Fleetio.
- Consent and share your data with Fleetio through the above process.
- Verizon Connect Reveal will issue API Credentials in the form of a username and password. Make a note of these values to be entered as you complete the next section. The username will look like an email address, but it will contain the words "Fleetio," "WCF," or "REST."
example API username: REST@domain.com
When setup is complete, you should see Fleetio listed as a tab under your Partner Integrations.
NOTE: This tab will never show the integration username and password. They can only be viewed in the original email when they are issued from Verizon.

IMPORTANT: Your integration user should NOT be added to the Verizon Reveal User List. Sometimes Verizon Support will create the user in this list, but it should be removed.

Enable the Verizon Connect Reveal Integration
In Fleetio:
- Click Integrations in the Sidebar Navigation.

- Click Telematics in the Integrations Directory.

- Click the Connect button in the Verizon Connect Reveal tile.

- Enter the Integration User username/password provided by Verizon (see above), then click Next.

- You'll be asked if you want to sync your Vehicles and Devices with Fleetio or only Sync your Devices. See Telematics Vehicle Import to learn more about these options, then return here to complete your setup.
- Once authenticated, click the More Actions Button and select Manage Devices.

- This will bring you to the Telematics Devices list and be filtered by the Verizon Connect Reveal integration. Choose the corresponding Fleetio vehicle by clicking the Unassigned link under the Assigned Vehicle column in each unmapped row.

Reference the Manage Telematics Devices article for more information on managing your devices through the Telematics Devices page.
Unassignable Verizon Connect Reveal Vehicles
Only vehicles with a Vehicle Number in Reveal can be assigned to vehicles in Fleetio. This is due to the fact that Reveal users must first set up each vehicle’s profile for website and API identification.
To set a Vehicle Number for your vehicles:
- Go to the Vehicle List from the Admin page in Reveal.
- Edit any vehicles you wish to assign to Fleetio vehicles by setting the Vehicle Number field in the vehicle profile.
- Save all changes.
TIP: View the Vehicle Management article in the Verizon Connect Reveal Help Center.
NOTE: If you have a large set of vehicles to update, you can contact the Reveal Customer Care team to request a mass update to be made to your account using a CSV template.
Editing Vehicle Numbers in Verizon Connect Reveal
IMPORTANT: Once set, please do not edit Vehicle Numbers in Reveal if at all possible. Those numbers are the only identifier Fleetio can use to synchronize data from Reveal. If you make changes to Vehicle Number values in Reveal, it will break the Fleetio integration for those vehicles.
Fleetio offers several mitigation strategies to try to help customers if they do edit a Vehicle Number and unknowingly break the integration:
- An email is sent to the Fleetio Account Owner whenever a vehicle API request fails because the vehicle is not found in Reveal. This happens when a Vehicle Number no longer exists in Reveal (could have been deleted or the vehicle number could have changed).
- A daily check of the vehicle's attributes is made, and if found to be sufficiently different (and so potentially a switch in the Vehicle Number of two mapped vehicles), an email is sent to the Fleetio Account Owner. Emails are only sent for devices mapped to Fleetio vehicles.
Re-map Fleetio Vehicles after Reveal Changes
In the event that a change in your Reveal Vehicle Numbers is necessary, you simply need to "refresh and re-map" in order to resume the Fleetio integration.
- Click Integrations in the Sidebar Navigation.
- Click My Integrations in the Integrations Directory.

- Click the More Actions Button for your VZ Connect Reveal integration and select Manage Devices.

- Locate the old Reveal Vehicle Name, hover over the vehicle assignment, and click the pencil icon to edit. Then, click the X in the Assigned Vehicle drop-down to un-map the Reveal connection that is listed.
- Click the More Actions Button at the end of the row and select Archive.

- Follow the steps to Refresh Devices
- Once the data populates for the newly updated Reveal vehicle numbers and names, you may select the corresponding Assigned Fleetio Vehicle again.
