Vehicle Assignments in Fleetio Go

With Fleetio Go, you can Assign a Vehicle to an Operator from your mobile device and view those assignments so you always know which Operator is responsible for which Vehicle.

IMPORTANT: Vehicle Assignment Scheduling is not available with the Fleetio Essential Plan.

 

PERMISSIONS: You must have the proper Role and Permissions to manage Vehicle assignments. Contact your Account Owner or Administrator for information about your Role and Permissions.

 

Classify Contacts as Operators

Contacts must have the Operator classification to be assigned to a Vehicle.

NOTE: A Contact may still be assigned to a vehicle through an Inspection workflow even if they are not an Operator.

If you have the necessary permissions, you can edit a Contact to classify them as an Operator. See Contacts in Fleetio Go to learn more.

Assign a Vehicle

  1. Tap Browse in the bottom menu, then tap Vehicles.

  1. Tap a Vehicle in the list to open the Vehicle Details Page.
  2. If the Vehicle is not currently Assigned, the Assigned To field will be blank. Tap it to start a new Vehicle assignment.

  1. On the New Vehicle Assignment page, tap the Operator field to open the list and select a Contact.
  2. (Optional) Set the Start Date/Time and Starting Odometer.
  3. (Optional) Set End Date/Time and Ending Odometer.

NOTE: Start Date/Time and End Date/Time may be left blank for open-ended assignments as long as there is no overlap with existing assignments. Only one assignment can have a blank Start Date/Time or a blank End Date/Time per Vehicle.

NOTE: Fleetio Go displays the current odometer reading to ensure your readings remain in sequence. See Meter Validation in Fleetio Go for more information.

  1. Complete any Custom Fields and leave a Comment if applicable.

TIP: Custom Fields are fields created by your organization to gather and track additional information and may be required depending on their settings. If you have a question about a Custom Field, contact your Account Owner or Administrator.

  1. When you're finished, tap Save in the top right.

View and Edit Vehicle Assignments

On the Vehicle Details Page, the Assigned To field shows the currently assigned Operator.

Tap the Assigned To field (a) to Reassign the Vehicle to another Operator, or tap the More Actions Button (b) and select Unassign to remove the current assignment.

Vehicle Assignment History

To view a history of assignments for a particular Vehicle, scroll down the Vehicle Details Page to the Menu section and tap Assignment History.

You'll see a list of the Current and Past Assignments for the Vehicle. You can also tap on an entry to edit the details of that assignment.
