Verizon Connect Fleet Integration

IMPORTANT: Verizon Connect (Telogis) is now Verizon Connect Fleet.

With the Fleetio and Verizon Connect Fleet integration, Fleetio will automatically import Meter Readings (primary and secondary), the current Vehicle Location and provide Vendor Location Alerts.

IMPORTANT: Fleetio does not charge additional fees for ANY integration, but please note that the Verizon Connect Fleet plan must include "API services" in order to integrate with Fleetio. Please contact Verizon Connect Fleet Sales for any questions about their plans and any charges for API Services.

Verizon Connect Fleet is a native integration and includes the following features:

Integration Feature Included
Primary Meter
Secondary Meter
Faults / Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)
Fuel Vendor Location Alerts
Vehicle Location
Auto-Mapping

Data Transfer / Update Frequency

Historical Data

Upon initial configuration, Fleetio does not pull any historical data from the integration. New data is imported moving forward.

Data Update Frequency

Meter Entries and Vehicle Location updates are imported on a nightly basis and may be manually refreshed at any time. A new Location Entry is only recorded if it has been more than 15 minutes since the previous one.

By default, Faults/DTC Alerts are imported nightly but may be configured for hourly import and can also be manually refreshed.

TIP: Multiple Meter Entries with the same Date and Meter Reading may simply indicate that Fleetio has pulled the most current data available from the device. Learn more in the GPS Integrations - Advanced Meter Topics article.

Meter Units Supported

The Fleetio integration with Verizon Connect Fleet supports primary meters in miles and kilometers and secondary meters in hours. Configure your Fleetio vehicles with the appropriate meter types in Vehicle Settings.

Prepare Fleetio Vehicles

Before initiating the setup process, you'll want to take two steps to prepare your Fleetio Vehicles.

  1. Ensure that each Vehicle is configured with the proper Meter (primary/secondary) and the corresponding meter measurement units (miles, hours, kilometers), noting the supported meters and units explained above.
  2. Enter a VIN for each Vehicle, if possible. Fleetio will attempt to auto-map Telogis devices to Fleetio Vehicles based on VIN, but you may also complete this mapping manually if the VIN is omitted.

Verizon Connect Fleet Authentication

The Fleetio integration with Verizon Connect Fleet is authenticated through a Verizon Connect Fleet username and password. You may use an existing Verizon Connect Fleet user account; however, we suggest that you create a Verizon Connect Fleet login specifically for the integration so that it will be unaffected by any User changes.

Once created, test your credentials at https://api.telogis.com. Enter your username and password to confirm they are valid.

For any questions regarding Verizon Connect Fleet user setup or permissions, reach out to your Verizon Connect Fleet account manager.

Enable the Verizon Connect Fleet Integration

  1. Click Integrations in the Sidebar Navigation.

  1. Click Telematics in the Integrations Directory.

  1. Click the Connect button in the Verizon Connect Fleet tile.

  1. Enter your Telogis Username or Email, Password, and Customer Account Name, and click Next.

TIP: Your Customer Account Name is shown in the URL from within your Verizon Connect Fleet account.

IMPORTANT: If you receive an authentication error, test your credentials at https://api.telogis.com. Enter your username and password to confirm they are valid. If the credentials are invalid, they will not work for the integration.

If the credentials are valid and the username is in the format AccountID:subuser, then you should only put in the "subuser" as the username in Fleetio.

  1. Use the checkboxes to configure your Settings for Fuel Vendor Location Alerts and Engine Faults.
    • Fuel Vendor Location Alerts occur when the location of the Fleetio Vehicle at the time of a fuel transaction differs from the location of the associated fuel Vendor.
    • Engine Faults are created as Faults in Fleetio. Engine Faults are imported daily by default but may be optionally configured for hourly import here.

  1. Click Connect Verizon Connect Fleet to Fleetio. Fleetio will complete a verification process and import device data.

Verizon Connect Fleet API Services

Fleetio does not charge for any integrations. We support data exchange with your third-party providers, including Verizon Connect Fleet. In order to integrate with Fleetio, Verizon Connect Fleet requires that your plan include "API Services."

If, after completing the setup steps above, you receive an error regarding API access, please reach out to Verizon Connect Fleet support.

Map Devices to Fleetio Vehicles

Whenever possible, Fleetio will auto-map Verizon Connect Fleet devices to Fleetio Vehicles based on VIN. If the VIN field has been omitted, or if the integration setup process fails to properly assign Vehicles, they can be manually configured.

  1. Click Integrations in the Sidebar Navigation.
  2. Click My Integrations in the Integrations Directory.

  1. Click the More Actions Button for Verizon Connect Fleet and select Manage Devices.

  1. You'll see a full list of your Verizon Connect Fleet devices. Choose the corresponding Fleetio Vehicle from the Assigned Vehicle drop-down menu in each unmapped row. Unmapped rows will not have a Vehicle in the Assigned Vehicle column.

TIP: See Managing Telematics Devices for more information on managing your devices through the Telematics Devices page.

Fuel Vendor Location Alerts

The Telogis integration is automatically enabled for Fuel Vendor Location Alerts. Fleetio will flag any Fuel Entry for which the distance between the Vehicle location and the fuel vendor location exceeds the Exception Radius configured in Account Settings > Fuel & Energy Settings. An email notification is sent to the Account Owner.

To disable Fuel Location Alerts:

  1. Click Integrations in the Sidebar Navigation.
  2. Click My Integrations in the Integrations Directory.

  1. Click the More Actions Button for the Telogis Integration and select Edit.

  1. Uncheck the checkbox for Fuel Vendor Location Alerts and click Save.

Faults

Faults generally refer to Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) and other alerts reported from an engine through an onboard diagnostic device.

Telogis reports on three types of alerts: OBDII_DTC, J1587_DTC, and J1939_DTC.

Navigate to Issues > Faults in the Sidebar Navigation to view imported Faults. An icon appears for faults to indicate Telogis as the reporting source.

The only identifying information that imports into Fleetio is the Fault Code, but you can create Fault Rules to manage these - add a Name, Description, and/or Priority.

TIP: Learn more in Faults Overview.
