Types of Fleetio Communications
Fleetio categorizes outgoing communication into the three message types:
-
Essential System Communications
- This includes new user confirmation and password reset requests
- It is NOT possible to opt out of these system messages
- These are delivered through email. And some display as an alert in the Fleetio web app.
-
Fleetio Company and Industry News
- This includes announcements for Q&A sessions, webinars, and other relevant maintenance management industry news
- Opt out of these messages as explained in the Unsubscribe from Marketing Emails article
-
User Notifications
- This includes alerts and notices of upcoming or overdue vehicle service, new and updated Work Orders, Inspection faults reported, Purchase Order approvals, overdue Inspections, Team Collaboration with @mentioning, etc.
- These notifications can be delivered through email, push notifications on your Mobile App, and the Notification Center in Fleetio as configured in your User Notification Settings.
Watching and Notifications
Generally, user notifications send to the watchers on that record. For example, if a technician changes the status of a Work Order, that notification will send to the other users watching the Work Order. Or, if a driver reports an Issue, that notification sends to the users watching the Vehicle.
Notification Settings determine notifications (Issue status change, new comment, etc.) that a user will receive and how they will receive them (email, push notification, etc.).
Watching determines the specific records (Vehicles, Issues, etc.) that a user will be notified about. Learn more about how watching works in the Watching in Fleetio article.
Default Notification Settings
For a new user, all notifications default to enabled. However, they will not be delivered until the user confirms their email or enables push notifications for Fleetio Go on their mobile device.
For existing users while we're migrating notifications, the default is to maintain the status quo:
- New notifications default to disabled
- Notifications the user previously had disabled will remain disabled
- Notifications that were previously enabled (even if not configured in Notification Settings like Work Order assignment) will default to enabled
