Sales tax is a tax applied to the sale of goods and services, and that includes Software as a Service (SaaS), like Fleetio. The tax is governed by each state or local taxing authority, with rates and laws varying by jurisdiction. Depending on your company location, you might be charged sales tax when you purchase a Fleetio plan.
Tax Location
For tax purposes, your company location is the Company Address saved in the Billing Profile of your Fleetio Account.
The amount of sales tax is based on your state and local tax rates, and will be included as a line item on your billing statement.

Tax Exempt Status
If your company is tax exempt, please send your current signed sales tax exempt certificate to billing@fleetio.com.
If you operate in multiple states, we'll need a certificate for each state.
Fleetio partners with Avalara who will be validating tax exemption certifications on your behalf. It will take Avalara 3-5 business days to validate certificates. If there are any issues with the certificate or if more information is needed, you will receive an email with detailed instructions on next steps. Once Fleetio has valid proof of exemption as permitted by applicable law, you will not be charged sales tax for as long as your certificate is valid.
