Caterpillar® VisionLink™ Integration

Fleetio integrates with Caterpillar® VisionLink™ GPS tracking devices.

This article explains how to set up the integration and map your Caterpillar® VisionLink™ devices to Fleetio Vehicles.

NOTE: Caterpillar® Visionlink™ Connect Pro™, Performance™, Performance Pro™, Track™, or Track Pro™ subscription is required to set up this integration with Fleetio

Caterpillar® is a native integration and includes the following features:

To set up the Fleetio integration to Caterpillar® VisionLink™ (AEMP 2.0), you must provide your Client ID and Client Secret Visionlink™ AEMP 2.0 API Credentials.

These are different from your VisionLink™ login credentials and are commonly provided via email from CatDigital_External_API_Adoption_Team@cat.com.

If you do not know your API credentials, please contact your company's Cat® VisionLink™ administrator or Caterpillar® dealer for assistance in obtaining or requesting them.

NOTE: Fleetio integrates with the Caterpillar® VisionLink™ AEMP 2.0 API. Some Caterpillar® VisionLink™-specific features and data may not be supported at this time.

Meter Units Supported

This integration supports both primary and secondary meter units in hours, miles, or kilometers when available from Caterpillar®.

Set the primary and/or secondary meter units appropriately on the Fleetio Vehicle, and the correct value will be imported. See the Meter Overview article for more information on configuring meter units.

Engine Faults/DTC

This integration syncs engine faults/DTCs every 15 minutes.

Sensor Data

This integration syncs some limited sensor data every 15 minutes. Sensor types and availability may vary by equipment.

Data Frequency/Update Frequency

Historical Data

Fleetio does not pull any historical data from the integration. Only new data is imported after the initial configuration.

Data Update Frequency

Meter Entries and Vehicle Location updates are imported on a nightly basis and may be manually refreshed at any time. A new Location Entry is only recorded if it has been more than 15 minutes since the previous entry.

Integration Setup

  1. Click Integrations in the Sidebar Navigation.

  1. Click Telematics in the Integrations Directory Sidebar.

  1. Click the Connect button on the Caterpillar® tile.

  1. Enter your Caterpillar®️ VisionLink™️ Client ID and Client Secret, then click Next.

Once Client ID and Client Secret are entered, validated, and saved, the integration will begin to sync data starting from this point forward.

NOTE: To set up the Fleetio integration to Caterpillar® Visionlink™ (AEMP 2.0), you must provide your Client ID and Client Secret Visionlink™ AEMP 2.0 API Credentials. These are different from your VisionLink™ login credentials and are commonly provided via email from CatDigital_External_API_Adoption_Team@cat.com. If you do not know your API credentials, please contact your company's Caterpillar® VisionLink™ administrator or Caterpillar® dealer for assistance in obtaining or requesting them.
It can take up to two (2) weeks to get this information from Caterpillar® VisionLink™ dealership administrators.
